"Pros: The host was friendly and accommodating and we were grateful to be welcomed by a bottle of their own wine in the fridge which was delicious. The house is easily accessible, it has a court yard parking and next to the house key, we received a remote key for the electrical fences. The rooms were very spacious and there was plenty of cupboard space in each room. Wifi is strong enough in the entire house (which helps especially when you work remotely or have teenagers). Kitchen was well equipped. We appreciated having only cotton bed sheets as cover for the nights.
Cons: The house is situated on the wine route, which is good for accessibility, but rather noisy. In the absence of air-conditioning, we slept we the windows open and the traffic noise can be too much (even at night). Things which could be a welcomed addition: large tea mugs in the kitchen, metal door stoppers to use for doors/windows when cooling down the house, soap in the kitchen and toilet, 3-4 capsules washing gel for the washing machine. Suggestion: remove the plastic mattress protections over the summer for the beds where adults sleep in, it will ensure cooler sleep." ~Alina
"Pros: Superb welcome by our host Stéphane who shared a bottle of the local (excellent) crémant d'Alsace with us just after arrival; it made us feel very welcome after a long journey. Stéphane is a font of relevant local knowledge and history. He recommended us some caves to try and buy Alsace wine. We also ended up dining the following evening at a very good restaurant he had suggested.
The gîte is inviting and comfortable – we were only two people – and there's more than enough space for four. It's well located if you're thinking of visiting the villages in the vicinity of Colmar. The local hills such as Kaeferkopf and Kaysersberg offer some good trails for hiking." ~Sophearith
