"Pros: A charming, old, comfortable building that really made us feel like we were in the mountains. Everything is made out of wood which we really enjoyed. Some of the upstairs floors creaked, but it was not a bother and this actually added to the experience for us. There is a small porch with good sun in the morning where we enjoyed relaxing. The kitchen is well stocked and good for cooking, though it may be difficult for multiple cooks at the same time. Our room had a comfortable bunk bed and a private bathroom with a good shower. The walk from the bus station (35 minutes) is longer than we would have preferred while walking in the rain with our backpacks, but the 15 minutes into town the next day was pretty easy and a peaceful walk in the sun - you can also take a bus or taxi. For hiking, we would HIGHLY recommend hiking to Schronisko Murowaniec lodge and Czarny Staw Gasienicowy Lake (the big payoff). Take a city bus or van to Kuźnice, go up the stairs, take a left, and walk to the ticket booth at the end to enter the national park. You can take either the BLUE or YELLOW trail which join together half way up. We took the yellow trail up which was super steep and did feel difficult for the a bit, but then the rest was pretty easy once it met up with the blue. The blue is a more gradual, longer hike, and we were happy to have left that section of it for the downward journey. We recommend passing by the lodge and going directly to the beautiful lake (30 minutes further) and enjoy a picnic there with the stunning view in the mountains. We then visited the lodge afterwards which was not as exciting as we expected. In total, it took us about 4.5/5 hours round trip. It was our only hike from Zakopane, and we were super pleased. Cons: The distance from the bus station and town may be difficult for people with lots of luggage. We got caught in the rain with ours which was not the most pleasant, but we are still very glad we chose this location to stay." ~Stephen
