"Pros: Host was very welcoming and eager to tell us all about the history of the house and the family who owned it. Alison went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable. A very old house with the quirkiness which goes with it which we liked. Very comfortable four poster bed. No restaurant but good fish and chips and more in nearby Matlock. Excellent breakfast and Alison offered to make a flask for our journey. Introduced to a neighbour, a very well known conservationist and sculpture. Cons: The steep access hill (we were warned to avoid this by approaching from the other side)" ~Kevcamb

"Pros: Loved the location, cottage is very spacious, walking distance to shops, pubs, cafes etc, scenery from cottage is beautiful, the hosts have made the cottage perfect, it’s so clean, decor beautiful, garden is like a secret garden, everything you need is already provided in the cottage. A lot of effort has been made to make this a beautiful place to stay, will definitely be back - we didn’t want to leave!!" ~Ally

"Pros: Sue & her husband were great hosts & extremely helpful. It's a beautiful bed and breakfast, with lovely facilities inside the building (plenty of room tea & coffee, a fridge with fresh milk & chilled water). Breakfast was delicious with plenty of everything. Cons: The Gables is in an awkward location - this can be overcome by arriving from one direction & leaving going downhill on a very winding, steep road with blind bends. Not ideal." ~Sarah
