"Pros: If you are not used to seeing third world countries or knowing what poverty looks like, then Zanzibar will give you lots perspective.
I really liked where Mnarani cottages are situated. It was nice being away from the busy beach on the west side. People don't come and bother you to sell you stuff the whole time. Which can be really tiresome after some time. But that being said it is also incredibly easy and quick to get to that side if you want to. So best of both.
During low tide you can go for long walks or runs and during high tide you can swim from the resort. I suggest walking on the East side of the beach if you don't want to be bothered by people. Everyone is very helpful and friendly.
The food and drinks are sold in dollars which can get expensive if your home currency is not as strong.
I suggest going to restaurants that sell food in shillings. All the seafood is great.
There are no real shops/“supermarkets” so we only ate at restaurants which can increase your budget.
Draw all your cash at the airport! There is only 1 ATM we could find behind and like 100m to the right of the restaurant Mamma Mia.
Cons: I think for some people the breakfast might not have enough variety, but we always had enough to eat and never left the breakfast table feeling hungry." ~Yvonne-mari
