"Pros: The apartment is lovely and everything was as shown in the pictures. It is situated in the grounds of Strandhotellet in a quiet area (but it was at the end of May, so could change during peak season).
Check in was super easy with a key in a box under the stairs. I have read that some people found the stairs difficult, but it was two small flights of wooden stairs, so if you do not have any mobility difficulties, you will not find it an issue (even with a big case).
The contact with Pawel (from the apartments) was top notch. Very quick responses, and I was even allowed to arrive early and depart later. He also gave very clear instructions on how to find the key and apartment (the “welcome to our home” sign is really helpful).
The apartment has two bedrooms (but the main bedroom doubles as a lounge and has a sofa), both with windows you can open (the main bedroom leads out onto the balcony so has a door). The beds were super comfy and the linen was fresh and clean.
The kitchen area has a nice sized table with four chairs and there is a small kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, small sink and crockery. There is also a hotplate (but we didn't use it), and a small table where you will find the cutlery.
The balcony is a nice size and has the sun most of the day.
There is a great deal of wardrobe (cupboard) space in one of the bedrooms.
The bathroom is simple but large, with a good shower and also includes a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The apartment is 50m to an ice-cream kiosk and about 300m to the beach. There are several restaurants and bars in the area. There is also a very large ICA Maxi supermarket with a restaurant, along with a McDonalds close by, a short car drive away.
At the last minute, my plans changed and my son was not able to join me. However, I didn't feel unsafe there at all.
Overall, I was very happy with the apartments. They were clean and overall, well-maintained.
We'll be back! Highly recommend!
Cons: There was VERY little to fault (nothing that bothered me at all), but in an attempt to give a fair review:
- There is no separate lounge area. While this was not a problem for me, I am not sure this was entirely clear in the description (and I was a little surprised).
- The apartment is perfect for 2-3 people (or even two adults and two small kids), but it is compact. It would easily feel claustrophobic, especially without a separate lounge area.
- The kitchenette is fairly well equipped, but it is very small. If, like me, you don't plan to cook, you will have no problems at all.
- The apartment and decor is a little tired, and needs freshening up. It was very clean, but the interior walls could do with a re-paint, and the bathroom a little modernization.
- The sofa is very uncomfortable! Not a major issue at all, just an observation!" ~Tracy
