"Pros: We spent 9 nights at Amazon villas, whiic is located in the pretty village of Fond St Jaques within easy access to Soufrière by bus. We found the locals very welcoming there. The owner Conrad and his staff were very friendly. The maid did a few washings for us, and changed our towels regularly, which was very handy. The owner provided a taxi service for us when we could not find a car, and he eventually found us a good car hire at a fair price. The location is perfect within 20 min to half an hour of all the major attractions of St Lucia. The residence is beautiful and the pool is surounded by the stunning rainforest. There are a few shops for basic stuff and a couple of bars and a restaurant within walking distance. We loved our stay at Amazon villas and can recommend it unreservedly. It was our favourite part of our stays on the island. This is the place to come to if you want to experience authentic St Lucia and get to know the friendly locals. Conrad taught us some basic greetings in Creole, which made the locals smile each time and warm up to us. Cons: They were quite a few utensils missing in the kitchen, no coffee machine and no table to eat outside. and only 2 stools indide the flat even though there were 3 of us. The flat was equipped for 2 people rather than 3. However, the manager brought us the missing items quiickly, and eventually found a table for us. Ensure you rent a 4×4 as the roads are full of potholes in St Lucia.. Make sure you stock up on food at the supermarkets in Soufrière as you will only find a few basic items of the village." ~Emmanuelle
