"Pros: Staying at Sunny Mound was such a lovely experience. I initially booked for 2 nights but stayed for 12. 😅 It was a great place to relax after moving and travelling as the surrounding village and nature were so beautiful and peaceful. gorgeous sunsets over the fields and sooooooo many fireflies. Magical. 😍 The room was basic but clean and comfortable and was offered to be cleaned often. Iroshan and his family were lovely, always smiling and helpful. I was there over Sinhala and Tamil New year and they gave me traditional sweets and snacks. Thanks again.❤️🙏 The room I was in also had its own private kitchen which was very convenient. I made basic meals but it's well equipped to cook. There was also a washing machine which was very useful. The WiFi was pretty good making it efficient for online/remote work/video calls. Yoga shala is just 8 minutes away by foot and some beaches, grocery stores & a few restaurants are 20-30 minutes away too with a pleasant walk through the village. I highly recommend staying here and will definitely visit again when I'm in Unawatuna. Like a home away from home. Cons: If you don't like walking then I would recommend you get a scooter or use pick me from this location as things might feel a bit far at times especially if you're in a hurry or it's hot. There is a bicycle for rent too. This location is not close to Unawatuna main beach.... you'll need a ride or to walk about 1 hour. This is more of a peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle which I actually liked in the end." ~Lauz

"Pros: An absolute gem of a place we planned to stay for 5 nights stayed for 10. In the jungle area, it was very peaceful The owner, Dinesh, goes above and beyond to help He would take us to the beach, we would call him to pick us up no problem at all (600 rupees). He took us to the fish market we bought the fish, and he organised a bbq in the garden his wife made the rice and salad we all ate together. When we first arrived, it was his birthday, so he organised a small party with his family, friends, and a French couple in the next villa they set a table and chairs for us all in the garden they made rice and curry that was amazing. Bed was so comfortable plenty of hot water in the shower, which is always a bonus I would recommend 100% you stay here We will definitely go back Cons: There is nothing negative to say" ~Nicky
