"Pros: Great hotel at the quieter end of Unawatuna Beach. Staff were excellent. Breakfast was good. The small infinity pool with loungers on the roof is a great place to watch the sunset or swim if the sea is too rough. Cons: Food and drink could be more competitively priced. Not this hotel’s fault but the 5 star carbuncle of a hotel that dominates the opposite end of the Unawatuna beach spoils the previously classic arched tropical beach view from Joe’s resort. It opened a couple of years ago and looks like a office complex that has landed from space rather than in the tasteful low-rise Sri Lankan style employed elsewhere ( like at Joe’s resort! ). Pity the protests to prevent it’s construction were unsuccessful." ~Lawrence
