"Pros: Very clean and cozy room with beautiful wood - you feel like you're in a modern tree house! :) The shower is hot, the bed is comfy, the ac is cool, and the wifi works. The family is LOVELY and will go out of their way to make sure you are comfy and have what you need. They offered to set me up with an experienced driver for the safari, and they were also okay that I decided to book my own. The fixed up their bike for me use (rent) so I could ride to the ETH and the park entrance. The food is prepared with love and the portions are generous. The area is quiet and peaceful - it's just this one guesthouse, with an upper and lower unit - on a garden property next to the family's home, but still feels private. I did a lot of research before my stay and chose to stay here instead of at one of the bigger resorts because I wanted to experience the elephants in a way that felt intentional and curated (not part of a system), and give the business to a local family. As a solo female traveler I felt very safe here. I ended up staying 4 nights when I realized I could bike to the park entrance and spend more time with the elephants. Sri Lanka will be very memorable for many reasons, but this section of it is engrained deep in my heart, and I am deeply grateful for the space and meals provided by this family. Cons: Communication was a little challenging, and my bill was more than I expected - be sure to ask what is included (for example the free breakfast and drinking water) and what is not. It felt a little far from the park, but maybe that's because I was biking it daily. :))" ~Laura
