"Pros: This is a very nice place. I would describe it as a bed & breakfast (not sure what it's labelled as on Booking). The owner lives in a separate house and guests stay in a new house with three or four rooms. Each room has a separate bathroom. It's all very roomy and the plave has a nice garden. It's also clean and the style is somewhat colonial with dark tree furniture. Wifi is OK but not great and that's the case wherever you go on Sri Lanka. I could do some work without problem and my daughter could look at Netflix. So, it's ok. The owner is very helpful and friendly and they have a washing service. The location is off Dikwella main street so it's quiet and it takes 5-10 minutes to walk to the beach across the main street and through some deserted plots. Since Surf Bay Villa is in the eastern end of Dikwella it's also close to Hiriketiya beach. Its possible to walk the distance but I recommend using a tuc tuc. This beach is nicer than the beach in Dikwella. Surf Bay Villa is definitely a clean, nice and friendly place to stay! Cons: Its a matter of taste. We chose to stay in Dikwella and do excursions. Most tourist and travellers seem to like Hiriketiya more and stay there instead. Upside: Close to a very nice beach. Downside: Crowded, loud music, and rather far from the real Sri Lanka." ~Andreas
