"Pros: One of the best places we’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka – hands down. The price-performance ratio is unbeatable. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food… probably the best we had during our entire trip. Definitely ask if they can prepare a traditional Sri Lankan dinner — it’s not on the menu, but they’ll happily arrange it. The beach is right in front of the hotel. The waves are high enough to be fun, but still safe for swimming and beginner surfers. Right next door is a turtle conservation spot — we even got to release baby turtles into the ocean. A truly magical experience. The hotel wasn’t crowded at all, and the architecture is smart and beautiful. You can tell the rooms and the entire space were designed with care and love. Matara itself was one of the most interesting places we visited. It felt more authentic and less touristy than other coastal towns. We’d come back in a heartbeat — highly recommended.
