"Pros: - The apartments are beautiful, with lovely grounds and scenic views — so many tropical birds around! - Sugath was a warm, helpful host, and the whole team worked really hard to make the stay comfortable. - I also met the owner, who happened to be visiting from Germany — she was lovely too. - The big patio was a definite highlight. - The food was delicious and filling overall. I had mentioned I can’t eat spicy food, but instead of adjusting the curry or dhal, they just advised me to eat the milder dishes — a bit of a shame, as Sri Lankan food is still so flavourful even without the heat. Cons: - One uncovered window lets in early morning light, which could be an issue for light sleepers. I had a similar case elsewhere and it was covered without a problem. - While the tuk-tuk service is convenient and fairly priced, it's not a free shuttle like some places offer. At peak times I was asked to walk instead — I did get stranded a couple of times, where other hotels might have helped source an alternative. - This was the only place I stayed in Sri Lanka without a minibar or fridge in the room (even smaller homestays had one). It’s not a huge issue, and the property manager was upfront about it. There is a large shared fridge, which helps. - Sugath kindly helped negotiate a cheaper rate for laundry, which I appreciated. However, one of my shirts came back stained, and my shoes had a strong mouldy smell — possibly from not being dried properly. - The boat safari was quite pricey at 8,500 LKR for two hours. 45 minutes of that was spent at a spice garden, where a “herbal doctor” pointed out supposed health issues and wanted to sell treatments. I was also given a “free” massage, then told to make a donation — not what I expected from a nature-focused trip." ~Martin
