"Pros: • We enjoyed our stay at the beautiful, modern, architect designed Villa Omar. The villa was extremely clean, well-furnished and the kitchen reasonably well equipped. The balconies afforded magnificent views out towards the ocean and we enjoyed some amazing sunsets. The layout and design is wonderful and light streamed in with breath taking views of the coastline. • The bathrooms were extremely clean and stocked with toilet paper, hand wash, lotion and shower soap. There were ample towels and linen in general. The washing machine was a great addition. • The management company were quick to respond when the toaster blew the fuses, a replacement was sent the next day. • In this location you definitely need a car to get around, shop etc • We were very lucky with mostly beautiful weather during our stay – although very breezy! Lovely small swimming pool but the water was freezing. Cons: • The building site next door should be mentioned in the booking information - the workmen arrived, noisily at 08:00 every morning except Sunday and left at 18:00 each day. The noise, although intermittent, meant it did, without doubt, affect the ambience of our stay. • While we agree with the owners principal of minimal window coverings, the bathroom window facing the building site would benefit from a venetian/roller blind as this room was overlooked by the building site. • The hob let us down, mid cooking, on several occasions. It does not like both front and rear rings to be ‘on’ at the same time and took a while to reset. We notice this had been reported in previous reviews and really needs replacing. Some suggestions: • A guidebook in English … maybe other languages too and a map of the Island • A tray to carry drinks, snacks etc upstairs • More information regarding grocery stores, shops, restaurants and their locations • A cafetiere – for ground coffee • Some milk and bread for when guests first arrive, rather than having to hunt out a grocery store on arrival • A full length mirror in a bedroom • An oven glove • Labelled chopping boards: vegetable, fish, meat • Go walking at Fanal – there are some beautiful Lavada walks nearby too • Best supermarket – Pingo Doce – Calheta and also at Ribiera Brava • Excellent restaurant – inside the hotel Estralia at Ponto da Sol • Good home cooking – Dos Amigos, 5 minutes towards Ponta do Sol" ~Nigel
