"Pros: Beautiful views and comfortable lodgings at Quinta dos 10. We were welcomed from the moment we arrived. We enjoyed making food in the kitchen, swimming in the pool, and relaxing in the hot tub. It was the perfect base for us to come back to after exploring Sao Miguel." ~Sarah

"Pros: We loved the outdoor space and the cleanliness of the place. There was also an abundance of towels, including black ones for the black sand beaches. The kitchen is well equipped including a good coffee machine. Sandra even provided an electric grill which was handy for grilling steaks and prawns. It's a very peaceful and well located place if you have a car. Our kids are older but if you have a baby or a toddler you don't need to bring anything; there is a cot, a highchair, a baby bath and a toilet seat adapter. Cons: As expected in the humid climate the house is quite damp, especially that the indoor space is quite shaded. We were here in April which was still quite rainy and drying towels was impossible unless it was a particularly sunny day. It helped to have a lot of towels available but the kitchen towels were a problem as there is no dishwasher and we used them a lot- the sink area isn't big enough to leave everything to drip dry. If you are planning on mostly eating out, this shouldn't be a problem. Ideally, there would be an electric clotheshorse or an oil heater and space to hand things indoors. Dehumidifier would also help a lot. When we visited, the washing machine (located in a separate laundry room accessed from outside the house) was broken but Sandra washed and dried our clothes for us. We also researched and there was a launderette nearby that we could have used that might have been a good option anyway because of the problem with drying. The living room is dark and the leather sofas cold to touch so we moved the three lovely armchairs from the bedrooms to the dinning area and spent all of our indoor family time together there. There are a lot of bits decorating the dinning area like a ceramic cow, a pineapple, a fake aloe vera and hortensias as well as teapots and a whale tail. We found it more practical to move those all out of the way as they took a lot of space but it might be a personal preference. It would also be good to have some hooks in the bathroom. It was cute to have the cats visiting but they rubbed against windows and mosquito nets and left a lot of fur on them. The parking space is a bit tricky to navigate, especially when you are not used to it, but doable if you rented a small car." ~Aleksandra

"Pros: The place is wonderful. We had a great time. It's spacious, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one en-suite, a big dining room, kitchen area and a living room. There's also a garden, where had a bbq. Great place to stay for a family, enough beds for six. Most of all I have to emphasize the hosts. Ana and Ricardo were so welcoming, even took us around their pineapple plantation. We felt like VIPs. And at the end, I managed to forget my mobile phone at the house, couldn't get back in because we left the key inside and it was locked already, so while we went to the airport, to check-in, they got the phone and brought it to the airport. If they hadn't, I would have probably missed the flight. Can't recommend the place enough. Cons: One of us had a bit of a snag with a hard mattress, couldn't sleep well the first night, but again, Ana and Ricardo to the rescue, they helped out right away, getting an over-the-mattress soft overlay thingie, and it was much better from then on. This is actually more of a positive than a negative, but hey, that's just the kind of place this is." ~Luka
