"Pros: The size of apartment was good for family with 1 child. The location is also good if you don’t mind walking up the hill (really up the hill!!) or you have a car. There are cleaning supplies which can be used, such as laundry detergent, soap.. Kitchen is well equipped with more than enough dishes and utensils. You will be able to cook for a family there.
There is bakery in the building with very delicious pastries and good coffee.
Cons: The apartment was not cleaned enough for something with such great reviews and at this price point. There were hair, mold, dust… we cleaned it ourselves as there was vacuum cleaner. But all in all, I would say that value for the money is not adequate. The apartment is too expensive for what offers.
Also, consider that pictures you see are very much enhanced. It is the same apartment, and the same furniture, but in pictures it looks a lot better.
The apartment is next to a busy street and you can hear cars all night like you sleep on balcony. This is the reason why we haven’t really used balcony - just too much noise. But, I believe this is normal if you choose to stay in the city.
We had a bad luck with noisy neighbors, music all night and so on."

"Pros: A spacious apartment with a very good kitchen and bathroom. The owners welcomed us and made us feel at home. We enjoyed eating on the balcony, which faces east, so it gets sunshine in the morning and is not too hot in the evening. We slept well, beds were comfy and it was very quiet inside the building and not very noisy from outside as it is set back from the nearest (small) road. A big Continente supermarket is 1 km away. The apartment is located half-way between Funchal town and Praia Formosa beach. There is a road junction about 100m north of the building that is crossed by at least 4 regular bus routes. This made getting into Funchal fast and convenient. We used two other routes to get near to the start of hiking trails. Also, one levada walk starts at 5 minutes from the apartment. Not tested, this apartment has a parking space if needed (we found the bus system sufficient for one week stay).
Cons: The football stadium blocks what would have been a beautiful view over the sea."
