"Pros: Monica met us on time when we arrived, showed us around then provided a key to the access gate. She called later in the week to arrange check out - all very relaxed and professional. We parked in a dedicated space in the underground parking lot then caught the lift to the 3rd floor, very easy. The apartment was exactly as shown on the photographs on booking.com - a beautiful, spacious, modern, well furnished apartment over 2 floors with lovely views from the big balcony which was a short walk to the centre of Funchal (about 15 mins). The spacious open plan lounge & dining area had comfortable sofas and a big table with a spectacular staircase in the middle, the contemporary kitchen was also large with lots of storage space (however both the kettle and toaster needed to be replaced). Upstairs there were big bedrooms (the master was huge with a separate dressing area) with masses of storage space and large comfortable beds. The generous bathrooms also had plenty hot water and good showers. There was a strong wi-fi signal throughout with extenders in most rooms. The balcony was a lovely place to sit with superb views both night and day, a shame that a new hotel has obscured the view of the harbour. I would be more than happy to live somewhere as luxurious as this. The location was ideal with only a 15 minute walk to the cathedral and a supermarket, it took about 25 minutes to get to the old town and the cable car station. As we were staying in January we didn't use the outdoor pool and, due to the low sun, it was mainly in the shade anyway. Despite the above we did have some issues which might mean we would not book it again. Cons: The description suggests that there is access to a 'solarium' which includes a hot tub, when we went to look at it and were shown a poster by someone using the gym which states that this area is not available to guests, only residents. So no access for us to the hot tub, indoor pool or gym. The description states that it is soundproof but the resident below came round at 23:05 to complain we were talking and it was stopping him sleeping so we should go to bed! This was normal level talking with no music or TV. He repeated this 3 days later at 23:10." ~Barry

"Pros: Very comfortable and plenty of space inside and out for the 5 of us. We had a great family time there. Cons: Poor supply of consumables for the price of the property. Toilet rolls ran out and dishwasher tablets (there were 3 or 4 for a 9 night stay for 5 people) If you haven’t got a car which we didn’t then you can’t get out of the property without a key. This meant someone had to go back to the property to return the key back when we left. I reported that the blind in one of the bedrooms fell down the first day as the wall fixing was faulty. Plus 2 of the door handles were loose. These weren’t fixed during our stay. Have attached some photos." ~Sue

"Pros: Everything about this hotel from the location, to the buffet breakfast and dinners, to the views from our sea view bedroom to the staff exceeded our expectations and I highly recommend this hotel! Myself and my partner got engaged and the hotel staff had a bottle of Prosecco and photograph printed off in our room when we came back which I thought was a lovely touch! We rented a car and we were able to park it in the hotels car park free of charge also. We will definitely be back! Cons: Nothing everything was perfect!" ~Colleen

"Pros: The location is close enough to everything you may need in Funchal. There is a convenience store at the gas station 5 minutes away and a supermarket about 500 meters away. The terrace offers a nice vista. Cons: The taxi drivers had a hard time finding the right place. The cutlery and dishes were poorly washed before we arrived, and finding a wine bottle opener was a challenge (which is a blasphemy in Portugal, to my understanding). The water pressure in the shower is so-so, and the Internet was working poorly for most of our stay." ~Igor

"Pros: Very spacious, clean and in very good condition. Very welcoming owner. Close enough to the center. Cons: There was a dog barking a lot, thankfully not during the night but it was a bit annoying when having dinner on the terrace. A bit steep walk back from the centre with a pushchair it wasnt very easy, so we took taxis." ~Charlotte
