"Pros: The house boasts a charming blend of Spanish heritage architecture and a beautiful, well-maintained garden that adds to its appeal. The property's proximity to the beach is a definite plus, although the beach and the private road leading to it is quite polluted with trash (I picked up two garbage bags full of trash just on the private road to the beach). To snorkel you have to walk for a long bit until reaching a swimmable depth, and then more than half of corals are dead, so there are definitely better places to snorkel in the area of Batangas.
Mark was welcoming and did his best to assist us, and brought us snacks every day and everything we asked for. But many issues seemed beyond his control. While the house and exterior are appealing, the interior amenities and infrastructure need significant improvement to ensure a comfortable stay.
Cons: Although the house is nice, the interior of the house requires significant attention. The doors are noisy and in need of maintenance—we had to use olive oil to reduce friction and make them smoother to open. The locks don't close properly either. The lack of a sofa in a house meant for multiple guests is an oversight. Additionally, the kitchen storage is inadequate, with pots and plates placed on a bench-type chair due to a complete absence of cabinets. There were no cupboards in the bathroom either. Furthermore, we had to wait several hours for hot water, as the water heating device was completely switched off, and we had no instructions on how to operate it. Providing clear instructions for using essential devices like this would greatly enhance the guest experience. We also noticed an unpleasant odor in the bathroom, likely due to a sewage cistern with some kind of odor reflux.
During our stay, we experienced several inconveniences. We lost electricity for a few hours, followed by a 12-hour internet outage. Even when functioning, the internet connection was weak and intermittent, making it unsuitable for those who need to work, make calls to family, or conduct any online activities while on vacation. Also the synthetic bed linnen doesn’t add to a convenient sleeping experience, bed linen made out of cotton would be a much better option.
Considering the price point, this property is expensive for what it delivers. The charm of the exterior and location are offset by the lack of basic amenities and maintenance issues inside, making it difficult to justify the cost. Potential guests should weigh these factors carefully when considering this accommodation." ~Joline
"Pros: The hotel is quaint, clean with the most amazing staff who accommodated us beautifully. The pool was clean and well maintained. The gardens around the hotel were well kept with some lovely trees. The small restaurant on site was always busy and we ate a lot of their tasty dishes on offer. The beach was a short walk.
Cons: No WiFi, it meant we had to speak to each other too much, couldn’t catch up with the news etc. The road leading to the hotel was a dirt track with big rocks, a few pot holes." ~Angela
