"Pros: Thon Hotels seem to be a chain of solid nice mid-range hotels in Norway catering to a mix of tourists and business travelers. This one is nicely located in a charming part of the town. We booked the "business double" room which gets you not only extra space, but a lovely bay window that looks over the little marina and lighthouse, and was quite a delight. The room was clean and comfortable, and thoughtfully efficient. The breakfast buffet was good, and included a special section of gluten-free products which made my celiac husband happy. (They even had a dedicated toaster.) Underground parking was available for a fee, and included some EV charging stations on the Mer network (one of the major Norwegian charging station networks).
Cons: No complaints - very happy here."

In a former warehouse right by the quayside in central Alesund this hotel is within easy reach of the city's biggest attractions, such as such as Jugendmuseet (Art Nouveau museum), Fiskerimuseet (The Fisheries Museum) and the many beautiful and well-preserved Art Nouveau buildings.The hotel has a long and interesting history. The building is an old warehouse from 1918, where they used to dry and salt cod for export to Portugal and Brazil. Cod fishing has been very important to Ålesund as a city, which you can learn more about from the hotel's many exhibits. The hotel has 3 conference rooms for up to 60 people, a bar at reception has refreshing drinks and snacks for you to order, relaxation corner with access to sauna, Turkish Bath and solarium, fitness room with treadmill and exercise machines.
