"Pros: This was our second stay at Escapism Maldives, the first being in October 24.
Transfer: This time, we quickly connected with the hotel representative — now conveniently stationed at the island’s reception desk — and reached the island within 1.5 hours by speedboat.
Friendly Hosts: As before, Shuhad, the guesthouse owner, and his brother Junaid (who runs the restaurant) provided thoughtful and attentive service, demonstrating their experience, education, and excellent English. Shuhad welcomed us with a drink and provided a detailed introduction to the guesthouse rules and our stay. He was always responsive and tried his best to assist with any issues.
Accommodation Quality: Rooms remain basic with all the essentials. Daily cleaning was efficient, drinking water was always available, and the shower had excellent water pressure and temperature control.
Dining: We opted again for a breakfast and dinner plan. Breakfast remained simple, with two options, while dinner offered the same varied menu as during our previous visit.
Beach Accessibility: The beach has become noticeably narrower due to sand erosion, and we saw only one turtle this time — unlike our previous visit, when they were frequently seen and even nested here. Possibly, the reduced space now limits their access. On the bright side, more umbrellas have been added, offering better shade and comfort.
A noticeable improvement from our last stay — there were significantly fewer sandflies, thanks to periodic treatments carried out by the guesthouse. If you do experience discomfort, it's worth informing the staff — they can arrange additional treatment of the beach area.
Reef and Marine Life: The house reef remains a pleasant spot for snorkeling, with plenty of fish and occasional rays. Currents were milder this time, which made snorkeling easier for us.
Cons: Only minor drawbacks:
- Rooms are still quite dark, and some light bulbs weren’t working.
- The air conditioner was dripping inside the room throughout our stay. Shuhad called local technicians several times, but unfortunately, the issue couldn’t be fully resolved. He promised to fix this during the low season.
