"Pros: As long as you know what to expect, this is a wonderful base for Yufuin and better value than many of the in-town hotels. As they tell you in advance, it’s quite far up the hill if you’re walking (20+ mins) and it doesn’t provide any food. But you get a lovely clean Japanese-style house with bedroom (ours had Western-style beds), kitchenette and small private outdoor onsen, and best of all is the hotel’s public onsen, limited to hotel guests in the morning and evening, which is pretty magical especially at night. It was all very quiet when we were there and we picked up dinner at the A Coop in town to eat in our accommodation. Hotel provides clean and comfortable clothes to wear on-site. Main buildings looking a tiny bit tired but it has a certain charm. Cons: No food/no shuttle." ~Sophie
