"Pros: The staff were very friendly, trying to over come the language barrier. The location was remote, not possible to drive there directly, must be bused to the lodge from the parking lot. The staff waited for us even thou we were 1 hour late. The remote location is something we liked, it's right next to a historical temple. It was great that we could enjoy a very private walk in the temple before people start showing up in the morning. The food was very good, the dinner set was vegetarian, which I'm not, but I still enjoyed very much. Cons: The remote location may make it difficult for some travelers from overseas. We didn't know you need to be bused to the lodge, maybe I missed it. The tatami futon was very firm, I wonder if you could get extra bedding if you requested it, we didn't ask." ~Nelson

"Pros: What can I say? This Ryokan was even better than how I’d pictured it. It’s hidden in a forest surrounded by nature and peacefulness. I even had a view from my room of the beautiful three story pagoda. The food is excellent and dinner comes in courses and beautifully presented like fine food (I chose the mostly vegetarian option), eaten in the private dining rooms with big windows to see the nature. The hot bath (not a true hot spring) has a schedule in evening and is freely available in the morning. I took a relaxing bath both morning and evening. It was exactly what I needed to get away from the hustle of the cities and recover from work stress. The owners are very kind, with one of them I was able to communicate a bit in English. I walked from the nearest train station there, which took me a bit under 1.5 hours. As I enjoy walking and the countryside is beautiful it wasn’t a problem, but it’s something to be mindful of, as there is no bus and the only other option is a taxi. Cons: Nothing negative to say other than that I wish I could have stayed longer!" ~Michaela
