"Pros: For our five person family, this was a great stay. The room had a great view, we had plenty of room for everyone, and the location was exactly what we wanted. The parking right next door was very convenient since we came by car. Staying in a renovated old Japanese house is always cool. And it was nice to have the kitchen available for our own food. Cons: One night, some of the guests were noisy and obnoxious late at night, and because the staff are not actually on-site, there's more pressure on you as a guest. I prefer to have at least one staff on-site at all times. It feels safer and more friendly. Usually people are respectful, but it's a hostel, so you can't be certain. To be fair, the staff were very friendly when we talked to them on the video intercom, but I think it's a big loss to have no one physically present." ~Leslie

"Pros: About 10-15 mins walk from station. It's at one end of the side of town opposite the heritage area. Easy walk to the morning market. 711s etc are by the station. Building is just off a main shopping street with cafes etc. 5 mins away from an area of allies with bars and rests. Some people would find it a bit far from the station (easy cab ride). The building is typical Japanese - the house number is not displayed so look for the only one with a keypad entry. small entry space where you can leave bags as well. The seating area is small and the dining space is bigger . separate kitchen - adequate - and a laundry and bathroom (usual Japanese style). upstairs are two rooms with tatamis separated by screen (you can hear everything). Everything works but it is scruffy. perfect base for sightseeing but this isnt a romantic spot. Noise travels so you cannot be loud at night. Cons: some of the cleaning was spotty - the plastic cover to the table was sticky. The sliding doors upstairs come loose un less you are careful." ~Simon
