"Pros: Great location for taking an early flight from Rome airport - short walk to train station, then 6 min. by train (every 15 min.) to the airport. Cons: I was frustrated by a surprise last-minute demand by the host to supply an image of my passport BEFORE receiving info. about how to enter the apartment. Other rentals in Italy have accepted passport details on or after arrival. There was no mention of this requirement in the listing, and I received no message or contact with the host in the many months after I made the reservation or even after paying in full several days before arriving. Less than 24 hours before the rental was to begin I contacted the host to see what to do, and she replied with the requirement for the passport. I was in the middle of travelling elsewhere in Italy and I had to stop my plans and do what she asked (in Italian, no indication that English could be used). This was made more difficult by booking.com not allowing attachments to messages sent within the app - a serious deficiency on the part of booking.com. The host should (1) state the requirement for prior passport info. in the listing, and (2) do what hosts normally do, i.e. take the initiative to contact guests a few days before they arrive to greet them and let them know how to enter the apartment. Booking.com should fix the glaring deficiency in its messaging app." ~Stephen
