"Pros: I recently stayed at Gomantak Beach Home Stay, and it was a wonderful experience. Govind and his wife run this family business and they were incredibly welcoming and hospitable throughout my stay. Loved the delicious home-cooked meals prepared by Govind's sister-in-law. The food was fresh, affordable, and convenient, and I ate most of my meals at the home stay. The room I stayed in was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a hot shower that worked perfectly. As a solo traveller, I felt safe and secure at the home stay, and the laidback and relaxing vibe added to the overall experience. The beach here is a true hidden gem, with very few people around and plenty of space to enjoy the surroundings. One of the highlights of my stay was going scuba diving with Govind's scuba facilities. It was my first-time diving, and the experience was unforgettable. In fact, I'm now considering going back to get my diving license. The only thing to be mindful of at the beach are the beach dogs, who can be mischievous at times. I found it helpful to put my belongings in one of the boats while I was swimming to prevent the dogs from playing with them. Overall, I highly recommend Gomantak Beach Home Stay for anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The warm hospitality, delicious food, and beautiful surroundings make this an authentic Indian experience. Cons: Nalvan is not that easy to get to especially if you don't drive." ~Karlsen

"Pros: 1. Promptly addressed pet needs, including boiled chicken, before we arrived. 2. Location is the only thing that works for this property. 3. The caretaker is soft-spoken but unwilling to make an effort to arrange any meals, snacks, etc., out of sheer laziness and unwillingness to step out since it was raining. 4. Clean bedrooms, but bathrooms and kitchen were dirty. Cons: 1. Upon arrival, we called the caretaker, but nobody responded. I had to enter the property and look for the caretaker to get them to open the gate and unlock the house. 2. Bedrooms were clean but had a strong musky smell due to poor ventilation during rains. 3. Cleanliness was horrible. There was a spider in the basket where dinner plates are kept, disgusting muck all over the kitchen counter, gas stove, and sink, disgusting brown marks in the bathroom basin, an incorrect-sized toilet seat that didn't fit the commode properly, making using it uncomfortable, a dirty tissue holder, and a disgusting bathroom stool. The bathroom felt unclean due to water stains all over. 4. The worst was the caretaker's lazy attitude. We called and requested lunch to be prepared a day before, to which the caretaker asked us to bring fish/veggies from the market, and she would cook. Given that the timing would not have worked, we decided to eat outside in the city. In the evening, we asked for snacks/fritters with tea, and the lady said there were no veggies in the kitchen; if we could get them from the shop, she'd prepare them; finally, we settled for onion fritters as onions were all that was available in the kitchen. For dinner again, she expected us to go to the fish/meat market to bring the meat and said, it's ok if you want to eat outside. Her excuses annoyed us that we decided to skip breakfast the next day. Even though the menu was shared with us, the kitchen needed to be equipped/stocked with ingredients, and only tea/coffee was available. 5. When you pay 18k / night for a property, you expect at least basic food and not run to the city for every meal or ingredient. I would be okay with this if it were a 6-8k/night kind of place, but for this premium, have some standard of cleanliness and service. We don't expect a lavish spread of food, but at least service what's on your menu. 6." ~Dj
