"Pros: The caretaker ladies were very helpful. Cons: Kodai homestay I booked a 3 bedroom/3 bath villa for 5 days for 6 people for a homestay in Kodai. I was very particular in what I wanted, so I researched and booked 6 months in advance. This particular homestay was listed in all travel websites as a villa with a kitchen and free wifi. I called a week ahead to let the owner know we will be 7 people instead of 6 and the owner was very agreeable. Phone number given in the listing is wrong. Owner double books all the villas and kept moving us around with some cock and bull story one after another. Day 1: We are requested to stay in a different place for 2 days. The owner lies to us that some work is being done in the original villa we booked and we will get it in 2 days. Day 2: No tap water in the morning and we had to keep calling them about it. All days: No wifi as said in listing. He had so many stories for that. Kids had a terrible time with no internet. No kitchen, he had an excuse for that too. Day 3: After the no water incident came the No Hot water incident. As told to us by the owner, we were packed & ready to move to our original booked villa 10 am. We were just kept waiting around as the villa actually had other tenants, not minor work getting done, like the owner previously told us. We got fed up of waiting and wasting time, so we went ahead with our plans of sightseeing . The owner and the caretaker lady rudely kept calling us to return and pack our bags, offering to “ help pack our bags for us” because they had other tenants waiting for the house given to us the first 2 days. We felt like we were being thrown out on to the street, especially with 2 senior citizens in our group. I did seriously search for accommodation after this incident, but hotel rooms for a group of 7 with seniors and kids in it are not easy to come by. We settled into the original booked villa. Horrible. Bathroom door has broken handles, door itself had a big hole. Water trickles from the tap with low pressure." ~Anonymous
