"Pros: The house is large and has some lovely old parlor furniture and beautiful icons. It has a private garage and nice little swimming pool, which was a must on an hot July evening.
Cons: Villa Anastasia struck me as a rental that will be really magnificent after about three months of hard work. There is no internet (the Wi-Fi was easy to find and connect to since the router was literally dangling by a string from a dining room chair, it just had no internet connection). There are several places to encounter the owner’s old junk that hasn’t yet been cleared out. There is a non-functional elevator as well (there are at least five flights of stairs to carry luggage on). But the biggest issues are the overall feeling of being unsafe there thanks to being surrounded by motion detectors, padlocks, and razor wire (seriously!) in the home plus the lack of air conditioning, which left us having to make decisions about which windows we dared to leave open at night versus how hot we could be and still sleep. There were three portable fans (for the four rooms) that helped some, but by 8am we were already sweating and with no coffee maker we couldn’t think clearly enough to do anything but throw our bags in our air conditioned rental car and move on." ~John
