"Pros: The building itself was very old and had been well looked after and restored. The place was impeccably clean and the bed was comfortable. Crepes for breakfast was a nice change from the usual fare. Cons: To get to the bedrooms you have to climb a steep, freestanding, wobbly metal staircase that represents a real obstacle for older, less able travelers. If the owner had not offered to take our suitcases up for us we would not have been able to stay there. The advertised garden and pool are on the opposite side of the town’s main street and when we took a bottle of our own wine, and our own glasses, to have an aperitif before dinner we were told we were not allowed to drink anything except what we bought from the owners. We were not supposed to drink or eat in the room either. On Friday and Saturday nights the table d’hôte is not available except for pizza. Nothing wrong with pizza except that we live in Rome and really don’t need pizza when we travel. There was no kettle, cups or tea or coffee making equipment in the room. The shower did not work properly. The owners were a bit perfunctory compared with most of the many places we have stayed." ~Susan
