"Pros: We had a lovely stay at VillaNorva with our two kids in February, it is slightly remote but with a car no problem. You can get easily to Rovaniemi, Santa Claus village, airport etc. It is a quiet area with a perfect view over the frozen lake. Everything you need is there. We communicated with the owners via WhatsApp, they provided a link to videos (e.g. how to switch on the sauna). It never felt cold inside. There is a heat pump / AC which permanently regulates the temperature, additionally there is a fireplace to make it really warm and cozy inside. There is enough wood behind the hut (it is a mökki not Villa 😉). The interior is generally also more „mökki-style“: mattresses on the floor, simplistic. Our kids loved that and we know that from our experiences in summer in South Finland. You have to put on the bed sheets and covers yourself. Only the microwave is getting a bit too old which is very hard to open with the broken handle. The fact that you had to quickly go outside in -25C to get to the toilet only added to the fun aspect. Lots of outdoor equipment including sledges, skis and ice fishing… it is in a beautiful location with direct access to the frozen lake. The host was very responsive and offered advices. "Pros: The house is a dream 🥰 We spent 5 wonderful days at Chalet Norva. Everything in this house is just perfect; it's furnished with love and taste. Everything you need is there. We were incredibly lucky to see the Northern Lights on 3 nights. Sari and Henk are super nice hosts. We went on a wonderful snowshoe hike with them, where they cooked a delicious meal for us. We would have loved to stay longer. If we ever come back to Finland, we'll definitely stay at Chalet Norva again. Cons: ---" ~Melanie
