"Pros: The experience on living on the Nile for a night is something realy unforgetable - and not only for kids. Accomodating hosts. Cons: The comforts though were not really on the level with the price, if you expect wifi, shower on site (you need to relocate a mile upriver to do it), or electricity on board. They did provide us with access to electricity and working toilet on land, but the later would need a cleaning before use." ~Anja

"Pros: The warm welcome of the hosts. Were always so polite and wondering if they could do something for us. Had an amazing stay because of them. The house itself is very spacious with a rooftop area, swimming pool, own kitchen, three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Location is perfect! Within 5/10 minutes you are on the other side of the river. "Pros: Good location across the river from Luxor Temple. Good dining options nearby. Clean, comfortable room with good a/c and hot water. Lovely view from the rooftop across the Nile to Luxor Temple. Nice that Taha offered a cup of tea on check in. (FYI - boat rides require some negotiation but $1 (50 LE) is normal.) Cons: When you arrive, there's no reception and no sign telling you that you have to walk up 4 flights of stairs to the rooftop in order to check in. Taha and I discussed what I wanted to do and he gave me a total price for all my activities of $80: A taxi to the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, the Colossi of Memnon, Medinet Habu Temple, Deir el-Medina and Tombs of the Nobles. The second day, a hot air balloon ride and then a boat across the river and back so that I could go to Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple, then a felucca ride at sunset. I thought this sounded like an incredible price as a friend of mine said that he paid $60 for the hot air balloon alone. However, the balloons couldn’t fly while I was there because it was too windy. Taha refunded me only $30. This was quite shocking to me but he insisted that the hot air balloon only costs $30. So I paid $50 for a taxi to drive me to the sites all within 15 minutes of the hotel over a period of about 6 hours plus a sunset sailboat trip. There are loads of people offering sailboat trips for cheap and the boat across the river and back is only $1 (50 LE) each way. So what started out as an excellent deal ended up being kinda pricey. Plus, I tipped everyone really well because I thought I was getting a good deal and should share my savings with them. So I would recommend not paying for the balloon flight in advance because it might not happen due to weather conditions, and then you'll get a very poor refund rate." ~Lisa
