"Pros: -Great food and many options to choose from at the Orangerie restaurant (we took HB for 25 dollars pp)
-Nice comfortable Family Room with two bedrooms and two bathrooms
-Great house reef with many colourful fish, you dont need to dive you can rent a full face snorkelling mask from the bazaar shop for 5 euro/day and just do some snorkelling
-Many beach umbrellas and loungers we had no problem finding one even later in the morning (try the far right side it has better views and less people).
-We had our lunch at the Divers Club next to the beach where the food was very good and at good prices
-The Diving Club arranges both diving and snorkelling trips at beaches nearby. Be sure to write down your name on the list early on (there is a minimum of 4 persons per trip). There is a place called Abu Dabbab where you can see sea turtles and cows (Dugongs). Unfortunately we did not make the dates but hopefully you will!
Cons: -We booked this hotel due to its proximity to Luxor as my daughter wanted to sea the ancient ruins. We booked a day trip to Luxor with the Hotel's (in-house) associate, New Line Limousine Company, which cost about 480 euros for three people. First, they tell you that the trip takes 3-3,5 hours but it actually takes 5 hours since tourists cannot use the normal road, they have to travel through Safaga first and pass through a check point there. But most importantly nobody warned us that it was going to be 43 degrees Celcius there!(be warned there is a huge climate difference between the Red Sea and inland Egypt!). It was impossible to walk and see the monuments, the car was too small for 5 people, the guide insisted on taking us to other monuments than the ones we paid for, there was no boat ride as advertised, instead they took us to a "traditional" alabaster workshop where we were asked to pay 270 euros for 4 artifacts which of course we refused. The owner was very persistent to the point that the price dropped to 100 euros and even 50 euros. All the time we felt like we were being scammed. We mentioned this to the person who books these trips inside the hotel but he did not seem all that interested. He actually said that we should have checked the weather ourselves before we left. If you must see Luxor try an overnight stay where you will also be able to see the evening light show.
-Waiters inside the hotel kept trying to sell us coupons for "Fisherman's Hut" night. My husband finally gave in so we bought these coupons for a supplement of 50 euros p.p. in order to have dinner by the sea which included lobster, shrimp and calamari. We were disappointed by the quantity and quality of the food as well as the entertainment and wished we had stayed at the Orangerie restaurant which was already paid for. Again, it felt like a rip off." ~Korina
