"Pros: We stayed in “Villa Jawara” (one of several house on the Villas Jawara property) and we found the house to be essentially perfect. The home is spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well-stocked and the hosts have provided plenty of towels for use in the bathrooms as well as the hot tub. The villa includes full-size washer and dryer units, as well as a laundry sink— these were luxuries for us during our 10-day trip to Costa Rica! The beds are comfortable, the A/C units in the bedrooms work well, and there are plenty of plugs for charging all of your devices. The house itself exceeded all of our expectations, but what makes this property truly exceptional is the outdoor space. There is a HUGE covered outdoor patio, including a wall of windows on one side that can be opened to let the breeze flow through or closed to keep the outdoor dining area dry during the rain. The swim spa is entirely fed by the volcanic hot springs— literally your own private hot spring!— and was absolutely gigantic for our family of four. The landscaping is beautiful and tasteful and the view of Arenal from the patio/swim spa is absolutely breathtaking. Although the interior of the house was sizeable and comfortable, our family ended up spending just about every waking moment in the outdoor living area— even when it was pouring rain, the covered patio was a heavenly place to be.
Access to the Villas Jawara is through the Hotel Los Lagos property, which seems to be one of the nicest resorts in the La Fortuna area. Upon arrival, the host met us outside of the hotel gates and provided wristbands that allowed us to enter the gated Los Lagos property (necessary for accessing the Villa). The wristbands also provided access to all of the Los Lagos amenities, including beautiful pools, water slides, spa, restaurant, etc. This was an incredible perk that we didn’t expect.
