It is said, in an old Tibetan story, that Marmot saved human, so they exchanged the skin in the armpits as a promise of never hurting each other. For a long time, Tibetan had a great relationship with the marmots, calling them in the deep mountain and feeding them. Trust was established deeply between the two species during their friendly interaction. However, as the tourism developed fastly these years, the intact environment and culture before was disrupted. Many being killed, marmots now run away on seeing people. The name of the hostel, Calling Marmots, is exactly based on the owners interesting idea, that is, to establish a platform for delivering ideas of protecting environment among Tibetan area, as well as sharing Tibetan culture with the travelers, unveiling the sacred and mysterious Tibetan culture. Offering breakfast and barbecue facilities, Calling Marmot Youth Hostel offers accommodation with free parking. Free WiFi is accessible in all areas. Lapuleng Temple is an 8-minute drive from Calling Marmot Youth Hostel. Xiahe Sangke Grassland can be reached by car within 25 minutes. The bus station is a 6-minute walk away.
