"Pros: Yi’s Hostel is easy to locate and is in a very convenient location (right next to Guishan Temple). The owner is super friendly and willing to help in any way possible (his English is excellent). The hostel itself is an old building in Tibetan style which we found really charming after staying in some more sterile hotel chains. It has a lovely courtyard with a restaurant attached. The food is honestly the best in the area (from our experience anyway). We really enjoyed relaxing in the courtyard with a hot drink in our down time. The room itself is everything you need it to be (without the frills). It has a very large bed, which wasn’t too hard (hard is the standard in China). The bathroom is a wet room with a sink and a shower over the toilet. The water pressure was great and we had consistent hot water for our entire stay. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here! Cons: Not a big deal in the end, but booking.com advertises that this hostel has air conditioning. Apparently they used to but don’t anymore. Honestly, with the windows open (and the ear plugs that are provided by the hostel to counteract the outside noise) it was a great temperature in the rooms. We visited in the middle of summer and we never felt too hot (and my husband runs really hot), so I imagine air conditioning is probably never needed. It is also an old building, so you can hear your neighbours through the wall, but everyone is quite respectful and makes sure not to make too much noise late at night or early in the morning. Again, with the ear plugs the hostel provides, you shouldn’t hear too much." ~Jade
