All citizens of Chile, regardless of the duration of their stay, and all foreigners who stay in the country for at least 60 consecutive days may have to pay the national sales tax (19%) when checking out. To obtain a tax exemption, foreign citizens must, upon entry, pay for their stay in foreign currency (not in Chilean pesos) and present a valid passport along with the migration card they received upon entering the country. If a person subject to paying the tax and another exempt from the same share a room, the rate may be applied to the entire room.
Arrival details must be informed to the hotel 2 days in advance in order to arrange pick-ups from San Pedro de Atacama.

Based on local tax laws, Chilean citizens (and foreigners staying more than 59 days in Chile) must pay an additional fee of 19%.

Foreign business travellers who require a printed invoice will also be charged the additional 19%, regardless of the length of their stay in Chile. This fee is not automatically calculated in the total costs for the reservation.
