"Pros: Good location, close to the city center, cafes, beach. Very friendly staff, speaking English, I contacted them with questions about logistics around the island - they helped me a lot :). Simple small breakfast, prepared upon your arrival, as fresh as possible, slightly different the next morning and that's good. The room has a hairdryer, enough soap and shower gel - which is not always the case in Cape Verde. There is a refrigerator, they also gave an iron on request. Cons: The bed was a little hard for me. I would like to have the possibility of an earlier breakfast (it starts at 8:00 here)." ~Oleksii

"Pros: This is a no nonsense, no frills place. If you want good, honest, very reasonably priced accommodation then this is the place for you in Mindelo. By using it you are also funding a charity for abandoned and stray dogs and cats. It has a classic hostel vibe with communal areas, shared bathrooms and a shared kitchen and our fellow guests were quiet and courteous (and significantly younger than us!). Silvia is a great personality and a great host and we could have stayed way longer chatting to her. Cons: Some hot water would have been nice. It is a good 15-20 min walk from the centre but taxis were cheap and readily available for lifts home" ~Richard
