"Pros: I had specifically picked Haus Alpengruß because of the amazing views shown in the pictures (as well as the great reviews), and they did not disappoint! We had a wonderful stay here with adult family members from Germany and Australia. The apartment was spotless, spacious and very comfortable, and it was great that each of the three bedrooms had their own bathrooms (each with shower, sink and toilet). The property is located in a quiet area just outside of the centre of Lofer (about a 10-15 minute walk), and is almost completely surrounded by a stunning mountain backdrop. Each of the bedrooms, as well as the living room and very large balcony, have beautiful views of the mountains. We spent every evening on the balcony, enjoying the fresh air and beautiful surrounds. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed. As we were there in August, we received the Saalachtaler Sommer Card, which was an added bonus. We used it to take the Almbahn I and Almbahn II cable cars up the mountain, where we had a great hike up to the Grubhörndl. We also used the Sommer Card to see several of the gorges and caves nearby (Vorderkaserklamm, Seisenbergklamm and Lamprechtshöhle). Lofer was also brilliantly located for a drive across the border to visit Königssee. There are several supermarkets and restaurants within walking distance (or a very quick drive) from Haus Alpengruß. One note for international visitors - we were surprised at how few places in the area (not just in the Saalachtal area, but also the Chiemsee and Königssee areas in Germany) only accepted cash payments, so make sure to have enough cash available.
