"Pros: In a great location on the main street of Katoomba in a former historic old hotel. A 10 minute walk downhill from the train station. Steps to multiple grocery stores, cafes, and shops. Easy access from here to all the scenic attractions. Friendly and helpful staff. Newer beds. Lots of large common areas including a full kitchen. Relatively quiet, probably due to the off season. Cons: It's a hostel, so you know what to expect. The room was big and clean but very, very worn and seemingly not maintained. Cracks in the walls, bugs in the light fixtures, rotting windowsill, crunchy old carpet. Even though I paid extra for the ensuite, I couldn't make myself use the crusty old shower. The hostel opened almost 25 years ago. It's time freshen it up." ~Lora
